The Corporate Counsel Section welcomes in-house counsel and their outside (law firm) legal advisors. The Section:

1. Publishes a newsletter.

2. Sponsors the semi-annual publication of the Corporate Counsel Review by the South Texas College of Law.

3. Sponsors various continuing legal education seminars including the Corporate Counsel Institute (held annually in Houston and Dallas) and programs presented at the Annual Meeting of the State Bar of Texas.

4. Provides support to organizations that offer pro bono opportunities to corporate counsel.

Upcoming Events

Save the Date for our 34th Annual Corporate Counsel Institute. This two day seminar, providing 15 hours of CLE on a variety of topics geared to corporate counsel and including 3 hours of ethics, will be held in Dallas on April 19 and 20th and in Houston on May 3rd and 4th.

Pro Bono opportunities are available!

Call for Section Members Interested in Participating on Section Committees

If you are a Corporate Counsel Section member and would like to work on any of the Section's committees described below in the 2012-2013 bar year, please email Section Chair Steve Stein at stephen.stein@tklaw.com, and indicate your interest in a specific committee. Your name will be provided to the incoming chair of that committee for his/her consideration for next year's staffing needs.

Membership Committee—responsible for maintaining and increasing membership by communicating the benefits of Corporate Counsel Section membership on an annual basis via various media.

Newsletter Committee—publishes the Section newsletter at least once annually.This publication contains information about CLE events, pro bono opportunities, benefits of Section membership, as well as articles written by Corporate Counsel Institute speakers, students at South Texas College of Law, and others.

Pro Bono and Grants Committee—primary focus has been on locating pro bono organizations that provide opportunities for Section members and providing grants to pro bono organizations.

Website Committee—maintains the Section website located at www.txcorp.org with current information, such as upcoming pro bono events of interest to the Section's members and articles for corporate counsel.

Your donation is tax deductible and helps some of the 5.7 million Texans living in poverty who confront myriad legal problems and have little to no resources to get the legal help they need. Legal aid is only able to meet 25 percent of the legal needs of these low-income Texans. Any donation you make can help meet the growing need for access to justice in Texas.

Texas Lawyers for Texas Veterans is a State Bar of Texas program initiated by President Terry Tottenham to develop and assist pro bono legal clinics through out the state for military veterans who otherwise cannot afford or do not have access to the legal services they need.
